Working with hand-dyed yarns

There are some things to keep in mind when working on big projects:

  • Make sure that you purchase sufficient yarn from a dye lot to finish your project.
  • Hand-dyed dyed skeins can have subtle variances, even when they're all from the same dye lot. For any project requiring multiple skeins, we recommend that you alternate balls every few rows.

Caring for your Yarn

It is best to store your yarn in zip-lock bags. Keep your yarn out of direct sunlight.

It is possible for a small amount of dye to run from the yarn during the first wash. We recommend that you wash your yarn or garment separately. Check the info about your specific yarn to find the washing instructions.

For the longevity of your finished item, we recommend hand washing for all your handmade items. Dry them flat (in the shade!) and generally treat them gently.
